| Title: Saturday Night Disapointment | |
|
Article: When I, Bernie Heydt, known to you as Facilitator, first reappeared here in Strike Fantasy Towers, a lot of things happened really quickly. Slaughter was put under my care, and the result of that transaction was an instant increase in ratings. Within one week the quality of the weekend program was raised one hundred and ten percent. The product was damn near immaculate and it showed in the faces of the fans and the over all interest in the sport. People began to once again work their schedule around SFT television, as the War brand was also improved under then Vice President ICON. Many would tell me how they stayed in on Saturday Nights to watch the show, or wouldn’t go into work Thursday morning after staying up late to catch an excellent War. I was so very delighted to hear these words and to be able to know my presence was helping so much. I felt as though I was finally getting my life back together. However, I do not sit in front of my computer now typing this article with pride. Instead, I do so more in a manner of shame, and complete disappointment. Though my show is still running rather smoothly, I must declare my disposition with the efforts of some of the talent performing on Saturday nights. I will single out no one in particular, because in actuality there is no need to. You know if you are putting in your most sincere effort and working to the best of your ability, as do the fans. It is clear to see who is who is not at least trying to put on a good show. Some may be saying, “What is this crack-head talking about? Slaughter’s fine!” Is it though? I certainly don’t believe so. To fans of the Towers, do not allow yourselves to be desensitized. If something isn’t as good as it should be or isn’t good at all, don’t enjoy it because you are supposed to. Let me highlight some facts that support my displeasure. For starters, let’s focus on the promotions leading up to the matches. If opposing superstars don’t step up to let their voices be heard, no one is going to find interest in their match, thus showing the importance of appearing before an audience or at least on camera. Just this past week there were sixteen superstars booked, and of them twelve actually spoke, five waited until the last day to open their mouths, and of them three waited until the absolute last minute. Four guys, two of them veterans, just completely blew off any involvement leading into the show. That tells the fans and your opponents you don’t care, and you aren’t worth their time. To the guys that did speak, but waited until the last minute, you have to speak up! You can’t wait until the children and the working-man are fast asleep to say something, hell that’s fifty percent of the general audience! Obviously, pre-match entertainment attempts by the wrestlers are at an all time low. Most say hardly a thing or nothing at all. This surely needs improvement. Think not? Well consider this. Think back to the last episode of Saturday Slaughter you watched. I bet I could tell you which matches you changed the channel for to watch Seinfeld or whatever other shows and which you made sure to watch. I won’t get into those exact predictions now, my aim in not to hurt the moral of our boys and/or girls. You most definitely did change the channel or leave to take a leak during some particular matches though, and that’s what I would like to turn our attention to now. Think about the guys who were fighting in that match, and think about why you disliked them enough to turn the channel. Not because they are sub-par wrestlers, because they aren’t. If they did not have any in-ring ability, they would not have been contracted by the Towers. They were most likely however, sub-par entertainers. They didn’t drag you into their emotions or put a smile on your face. They didn’t get you involved in the match and have a purpose for watching. So why watch? There wasn’t a reason to, so as a result you didn’t. To be quite honest, you didn’t miss much either. Although all of the wrestlers who take part in my show have talent, they don’t always show it. Their lack of participation leading into the match often carries over to their actual fights, and it can easily destroy any momentum they may have. This is a clear example of how imperative it really is to always give this business your best, or it will not give it’s best to you. This scolding of sorts doesn’t just go out to rookies or those booked on Slaughter either. I am trying to reach out to every wrestler in Strike Towers, rookie, jobber, or veteran. Perhaps not even the wrestlers alone, but the staff as well could use some improvement. What you give in this company is what you get, it has been that way ever since I first stepped in the door and even further back to when I first watched SFW on television. No one gets a better opportunity than anyone else. It may not seem like that, but some equalizer always comes along and balances things out. Being an SFT superstar requires more than good looks and athletic ability. It requires determination, a strong work ethic, and patience. A challenge that takes five minutes to complete is not a challenge at all. Succeeding in the Towers is certainly a challenge, and it won’t take five minutes. You give it the time, and you’ll do just fine. Well
that concludes my article for this evening. I hope it may have inspired
some, or at the very least gave you all something to think about. I enjoyed
writing it and blowing off some steam, working to make SFT the best SFT
it can be is not easy in the slightest. Thank you for taking the time
to read my words, as they are words of truth. Good day ladies and gentlemen,
good day. |
